Yard Sale, Tag Sale, Garage Sale, Sidewalk sale – What’s the difference?

Have you ever wondered what the difference between a Yard Sale, Tag Sale, and Garage Sale is?  When I lived in Oregon there were  “Garage Sales”.  I noticed  family sales around Westchester are called “Tag Sales”.   In the summer there’s a mixture of Tag Sales and Yard Sales but very few Garage Sales.  My only conclusion to this Westchesterism is that in Oregon it can and often does rain on any given day so the sales are usually held inside the garage.  In Westchester the sales are generally held outside on the lawn, in the driveway, and are called Tag Sales I guess because everything is tagged for sale.  In addition, local area towns have participating businesses that  have sidewalk sales where the discounted merchandise is outside on the sidewalk.  All these different type of sales  offer opportunities for the bargain hunter to find treasures.
